Nations, the Spanish Championship and the nine National Masters, this competition was the last of these tests, with a great effort to finish a campaign that has lasted practically twelve months.
The people from Soriano did not miss their appointment with the podium, standing out in the doubles modalities with the conquest of two golds, a silver and a bronze.
Manuel Acero stood out above all of them, who, being in the process of recovering from an injury, did a double with a gold in the men’s doubles and a silver in mixed doubles.
In the men’s doubles of his category, partnering with his club partner, Santiago Martínez won the gold, having to fight until the third set of the final and rediscovering again with a national victory.
In the mixed doubles, after an impeccable group stage, a Valencian couple, the main favorites, awaited them in the final. In a great start to the match, Manuel and Julie Loirot, from the Galapagar Badminton Club, gave them an advantage that they could not materialize and were defeated by a tight 22-20. With this opportunity lost, the second set began with a Valencian initiative that they took advantage of to close the match.
Also the men’s doubles of the category just below, had a double presence from Soria. The Soriano David Hernansanz competed on this occasion with the Aragonese Eduardo Marco and won the gold facing Sergio Latorre from Burgos and Jon Hernández from Biscay. The match that would define the metals was exciting and the final score that resulted: 23-21, 23-25 and 21-16 shows the equality and intensity of a match that lasted over the hour mark.
Finally, Santiago Martínez and Beatriz Martin from Extremadura won the bronze medal in their mixed doubles team, which keeps them as the second couple on the national scene.
The programming planned for these weeks will keep them in a slight rest to resume quality training at the end of December and face the new event of the year 2026 that will take place in the first weeks of January.
