On November 26th at the Shonan Campus, the Sports Promotion Center (SPC) held a farewell party for clubs participating in the December 2025 inter-college competition. The event was designed to bring together five athletic clubs on our campus that participate in the intercollegiate sports competition, a national university sports competition held in December, to increase their sense of unity. A large number of members, students, and faculty members from various clubs rushed to the front of Building 4, which was the venue for the event.
At the beginning, President Hideki Kimura gave a speech and said, “I hope that we can make use of the fruits of our training and achieve good results.I believe that the cheers of everyone here will give strength to the athletes, so please come visit us and support us.” Next, the captains of the cheerleading team, men’s and women’s volleyball teams, men’s soccer team, and men’s basketball team spoke about their enthusiasm for the intercollegiate team, and the cheer squad, cheerleading team, and brass band research group sang cheering songs and school songs to cheer the students on. At the end, SPC Director Rikukawa gave encouragement, saying, “The intercollegiate competition is the culmination of the fourth-year students’ competition. For the underclassmen, please do your best and make it a good tournament for the fourth-year students who have taken care of you.” Referring to the phrase “Pounding the Rock” that is displayed in the locker room of the NBA San Antonio Spurs, he summarized by saying, “The reason why the rock cracked was not because of the last hit. It was because of the continuous, full force of the blows up until then. I hope everyone will do their best until the end.”
