The once great talent of our football Lucas Demitra (22) will soon be without a contract. The general manager of Zlatý Moraviec, Marek Ondrejka (50), revealed to us what steps he plans to take.
Son of the legendary Slovak ice hockey player Pavel Demitra has been working in the USA for two years. During the past two seasons, Lucas Demitra wore the jersey of the reserve team of St. Louis City. Although expectations were high after his transfer, the reality is unfortunately different. During two seasons, he played only 10 games. These days, however, the fast-footed winger is found in Slovakia. He came to watch the preparatory match between Zlaty Moraviec and Dubnica with his own eyes.

Lucas Demitra returned to the place where he worked in the past. In the 2022/2023 season, he was on a six-month loan in Zlaté Moravce. The general manager of the club welcomed him with open arms. “Over the weekend, we played a warm-up match with Dubnica at home. Lucas came to the match with them. I’m very happy that we met after a long time. We talked a lot, almost the entire match. We didn’t even discuss football topics. We rather had fun privately.” Marek Ondrejka told our portal.
Ondrejka: Lucas will not return to America
The anabasis of the former youth representative overseas is most likely coming to an end. It must be said that it was not successful at all. He played 6 games last season and only 4 this season. If he did start, it was only for a few minutes as a substitute player. “The agent is looking for something for him. I don’t know where, and I didn’t even ask him. I don’t know if it’s in Slovakia or abroad. He returned home in November because their competition ended. I only know that his contract in St. Louis City expires on December 31st. So he’s probably not going back there and the agent is looking for something new for him.” revealed the head of FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce.

We asked Marek Ondrejka about Lucas Demitra’s expiring contract if he offered him a contract. Is there a chance to resume cooperation? “I told him to come and show us. We were more or less catching up. He told me not anymore, because he has something new agreed with the agent. That’s all he told me about it and I didn’t ask any more.” the boss of Zlatý Moraviec let himself be heard.
Ondrejka: Lucas is still the same super guy
Marek Ondrejka is very happy to meet Lucas Demitro. They saw each other in person years later. “I’m glad that we stayed in touch when he left us. I have to say for myself that he’s a really great guy. He’s still the same. I always like to communicate with him and when he’s still here in person like this, it made me very happy.” added for our portal.
Demitra made his debut in the top competition as a 17-year-old
Lucas Demitra is the son of the legendary hockey player Pavel Demitra, who tragically died in a plane crash. Although he spent part of his childhood in Slovakia, he was born in the USA at the time when his father was among the best players in the NHL. The football native of Trenčín became known to our football public as a great talent when he made his debut in the top Slovak league as a 17-year-old and immediately impressed. In recent years, he worked in the United States of America. His future is currently still questionable.
