YEB NEWS: Dominant Victory – 121 Points!

By Matilde Pollini

Pallacanestro Cantù had an evening to remember, overwhelming Milano3 Basiglio with an eloquent 70-121. An impressive show of strength from the guests, capable of maintaining a very high offensive pace despite the absences in the forward department, compensating with ball circulation, intensity and superior shooting precision: 9 triples on target against the 7 of the home team.

The match opens with a tight back and forth: Milano3 approaches well, exploits good percentages from the arc and tries to stay in the wake, but Cantù soon takes control of the match. Driven by Riccardo Fossati’s 8 points, they closed the first quarter at 19-33, immediately making an acceleration that was difficult to contain. In the second half the locals tried to hang on to the match with a couple of perimeter bursts, but the Cantù quality remained evident: the visiting group managed the pace and at the long interval led 47-63, with Leonardo Costantini protagonist in the Milanese ranks.

The recovery is a blue and white monologue. Cantù raises his physicality, attacks every passing line and concedes just 10 points in the third period, scoring a devastating 10-31 which effectively ends all discussions. Simone Ventura lights up the fraction with 14 personal points, becoming the cover man of the partial who digs out the maximum advantage of 51 points.

The last quarter flows on well-defined tracks: Cantù continues to push with order and concreteness, Milano3 proudly tries to limit the damage, but the gap remains wide until the final 70-121.

A victory that illustrates the visitors’ clear superiority, the result of a sparkling attack and a progressively more solid defence, capable of extinguishing any hopes of the hosts in the second half of the match.
