Pedro Costa: Avaí Futebol Clube’s New Football Director

“Happy with the challenge, prepared and willing to work hard” says Pedro Costa, new director of Avaí Futebol Clube

Avaí Futebol Clube hired Pedro Costa as its new football director. The director, who was at Brusque in the 2025 season, has played for Coritiba, Athletico Paranaense, Cruzeiro and Vila Nova and says he is motivated by the challenge and prepared to work intensely for Avaí.

Costa arrives to assist the new management in the process of restructuring the football department in line with Leão’s financial capacity. According to him, the objective is to look for players identified with the spirit of Avaí, marked by race and commitment, who also see it as a great opportunity to play for the current champion of Santa Catarina. Furthermore, the desired profile includes athletes with the ability to quickly adapt to the squad, so that they can perform as soon as possible on the field.

“Within the plans, the main thing is to be able to assist the new management in this process of restructuring the club. The idea is to implement new processes, guidelines, principles and strengthen governance in the football department. Build a solid and sustainable path, with players who identify with the club and defend Avaí with commitment and professionalism.”

President-elect of the club, Bernardo Pessi states that Pedro’s arrival completes the team responsible for assembling the squad for the 2026 season. He explains that the project is already underway, but that the hiring of the new director is essential to consolidate the ideas of the new management.

Along with the team that is already working, Pedro Costa has the mission of putting together a competitive squad, respecting the club’s budget. “We are bringing together very qualified professionals with great potential, who see Leão’s greatness as an opportunity,” says Pessi.
