On December 7, the 2025 National U15 Youth Basketball League National Competition held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province came to a successful conclusion. The men’s basketball team of the Municipal Sports School defeated the Guangdong Hongyuan Experimental Middle School team 112:66 in the final and successfully won the championship.
Since the preliminaries of this event in October, the school’s men’s basketball team has shown strong momentum, defeating the Fujian team, Nanchang Sports School team, Ningbo team and Jiangsu team, and advanced to the national finals with excellent results in the second place in the preliminaries, laying a solid foundation for subsequent championships.
During the national competition, the morale of the men’s basketball team was high. Under the leadership of head coach Zhang Wenqi, they defeated the Inner Mongolia team, Tsinghua Middle School, Lushan International Experimental School team, Xinjiang team and Hebei team, and advanced all the way to the finals. On the day of the final, the players showed great momentum and style, taking many fast break opportunities and grabbing rebounds, constantly creating scoring opportunities. During the game, the teammates cooperated and trusted each other tacitly, played steadily on both offense and defense, and gradually expanded their lead. Finally, they defeated their opponents by a large margin, winning the applause of the audience and winning the championship for the school.
Team member Zhang Yi and Zhao Jie performed outstandingly. With their outstanding personal abilities and superb skills, they continued to cooperate skillfully with their teammates, helping the team secure the victory and won the title of “Most Valuable Player”.
The coaching team’s calm command and meticulous layout are also important factors in winning. Head coach Zhang Wenqi carries out personalized training based on the characteristics of each player to help them give full play to their own advantages in the game. With his outstanding command in the final, coach Zhang was awarded the “Best Coach”. Team leader Peng Chao, assistant coach Yao Jia, and physical fitness coach Zhu Fengzhen worked quietly behind the scenes to provide all-round guarantees for the team’s preparations.
Through close cooperation, the Municipal Sports School and Li Qiuping Youth Basketball Development Center jointly cultivated this dynamic and outstanding team, which became a fruitful result of the joint construction model.
