Pierre van Hooijdonk is not satisfied with the draw of the Dutch national team. This does not have to do with the Dutch group, but mainly with the possible opponents once the knockout phase starts. The analysts at the table are particularly concerned about Morocco, one of the Netherlands’ possible opponents in the next round Studio Football very enthusiastic.
“I think the Netherlands will at least reach the semi-finals,” says Rafael van der Vaart Studio Football. “All the players have grown again, are playing for big clubs and are doing well. I have every confidence and with a bit of luck we will reach the semi-finals.” Analyst Wim Kieft agrees with that statement. “Qualitatively, that could easily be the case.”
When it comes to possible opponents after the group stage, Morocco’s name quickly comes up. Ibrahim Afellay has words of praise for the team. “Morocco really has a very good team. They have surprised friend and foe in Qatar. The great core has remained intact and they are expected to win the African Cup in their own country. Otherwise the current national coach will no longer be there.”
After Afellay’s argument, Van Hooijdonk decides to break in and the former international draws a harsh conclusion. “Then the Netherlands simply drew poorly,” he says. “That group consists of three fun practice matches and then the tournament will start.”
