Branco van den Boomen seems to be sidetracked at Ajax. According to FootballTransfers, a switch to Royal Antwerp could offer a logical outcome.
Situation at Ajax
The midfielder missed a large part of the season due to a back injury. As a result, a possible transfer in the summer was lost. Ajax had to deal with a long list of players who were allowed to leave. This mainly concerned purchases from former technical director Sven Mislintat. His policy led to high transfer fees and hefty salaries.
A large number of players left the club, significantly reducing wage costs. Yet Van den Boomen remained in Amsterdam. Interim coach Fred Grim preferred young talents over the experienced midfielder in recent matches.
Despite his return to the training field and selection against FC Groningen, playing minutes were not forthcoming. This makes his role seem limited, while his salary still weighs heavily on the budget.
Antwerp as an option
