The pressure is still immense on Arne Slot after he again failed to win at home with Liverpool. The Dutch coach is still in charge at Anfield, but nevertheless the English top club surprisingly already has a trainer in its sights to succeed Slot. After a successful first year of service at Liverpool, Slot seemed unstoppable. Liverpool directors Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are considering Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner as a serious candidate to replace Slot. The Austrian is also seen as a potential contender to replace Rúben Amorim at Manchester United.
What is Oliver Glasner like?
After his career as a professional footballer at LASK Linz, among others, Oliver Glasner started as a scouting coordinator at Red Bull Salzburg in 2012, after which he became assistant coach to Roger Schmidt there. The 51-year-old coach has been on his own since 2014 and via SV Ried and LASK he ended up in the Bundesliga, where he first trained VfL Wolfsburg and then Eintracht Frankfurt. Since February 2024, Glasner has been coach of Crystal Palace, with whom he won the FA Cup last year and is very successful. Partly due to his expiring contract, the coach is an interesting option for Liverpool, among others.
