A single missed shot proved costly for Sebastian Samuelsson in the men’s distance competition held in Östersund. This slight misstep allowed two in-form Norwegians to surge past the Swede. Despite the hiccup, Samuelsson secured his first individual podium of the season, clinching the bronze medal.
“I’m very happy with my race. A bit sad that two Norwegians shot clean,” Samuelsson stated.

norwegian talent Johan-Olav Botn proved unstoppable, delivering a flawless performance. The 26-year-old Norwegian blazed through the course, finishing nearly a minute ahead of his closest rivals to claim his maiden individual victory.
The battle for second place was intense, especially between Botn’s compatriot Martin Uldal and Samuelsson. Uldal, known for his speedy shooting, adjusted his strategy, opting for a more deliberate pace and a clean shooting performance. This tactical shift kept him neck-and-neck with Samuelsson on the track, even with Samuelsson’s single penalty loop. Though, Uldal dug deep on the final lap, holding off Samuelsson by a mere three seconds at the finish line.
The final contender, Sivert guttorm Bakken, also had a strong showing. He was on track for a top finish, hitting all his targets until the very last shot. A single miss in the fourth stage dashed his hopes of challenging Samuelsson, leaving him unable to catch the Swede in the closing meters.
Other notable performances included Jesper Nelin, who fought back from a crash to secure a respectable sixth place. Martin Ponsiluoma finished 23rd with four misses, Malte Stefansson came in 50th (four misses), Viktor Brandt was 71st (five misses), and debutant Melker Nordgren finished 89th (five misses).
