Vanessa Schubert, a board member and the youth officer for DSK, confirmed the club is “in the process of clarifying” the situation when approached by LGheute. The alleged incident, which has been circulating for days, appears to have originated from a message within the badminton group’s chat.
A message, reportedly seen by LGheute, stated: “when 500 people circle around you, it’s hard to get details,”
accompanied by a laughing emoji. The implication, according to sources, was a call for collective action to obstruct the AfD’s presence at their event.
However, this directive did not sit well with all members. One participant reportedly questioned the action, asking, “But isn’t that the suppression of opinions?”
This individual, according to reports from within the group, afterward faced intense backlash.
Kevin Ballay,who was present at the AfD event on December 21st,shared his account,stating that the individual who raised concerns was allegedly asked to apologize to the badminton group and was no longer considered welcome. “This was conveyed to me personally from the group in chat messages,”
Ballay explained, adding that those directly affected have remained silent publicly due to fear of further harassment.
A stance Against Intolerance: DSK Board Condemns Actions
The DSK board has unequivocally rejected the alleged behavior,emphasizing its incompatibility with the club’s core values and statutes. “This is absolutely unacceptable and we are clearly distancing ourselves from it,”
stated Vanessa Schubert, who also received copies of the chat messages. She stressed that the club champions diversity and freedom of expression,principles that are directly contradicted by such actions.
The club’s statutes clearly articulate its commitment to neutrality: “The association is politically neutral and practices religious and ideological tolerance.”
This is reportedly not the first time such issues have surfaced within the club. Schubert alluded to a similar incident approximately a year ago, which also involved the badminton group, though she declined to provide further details.
Seeking Community Input: Parents Urged to Come Forward
to thoroughly investigate these serious allegations, the DSK is appealing for cooperation from the community. “We therefore ask the parents of children and young people who are affected by this or who know about it to contact us,”
Schubert urged. The club also offers a suggestion box as a confidential channel for feedback.
Should the allegations be substantiated, the club has indicated it will take decisive action. “The people in question would then be expelled from the club,”
the youth officer confirmed.
