In an electrifying match at the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians and Botafogo drew 2-2 this Sunday (30) in the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship.
Corinthians opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the first half with Raniele, who took advantage of Botafogo’s mistake in the ball to finish with precision.
The first half was dominated by Corinthians, who had 62% possession of the ball and created the best opportunities.
Three goals in the second half
In the second half, Botafogo came back transformed and managed to turn things around in a span of six minutes, with goals from Cuiabano at 14 and Jordan Barrera at 20, the latter with a beautiful volley.
Corinthians did not give up and sought a draw in the 36th minute, with Gustavo Henrique completing the goal after Vitinho’s individual play on the right.
The end of the match was marked by confusion that resulted in the expulsion of Jeffinho, from Botafogo, after attacking Maycon during a general argument.
The statistics show a balanced game, with Corinthians finishing 11 times (6 on target) against Botafogo’s 6 shots (2 on target).
With the result, Botafogo reached 59 points and occupies fifth place in the table, overtaking Fluminense in the fight for a direct place in the Libertadores.
Corinthians reached 46 points and is in ninth place, maintaining their aspirations of qualifying for continental competitions in the last rounds of the championship.
