Fantasy Football Week 12 Highlights: Dylan Sampson is worth hiding with Shedeur Sanders at QB

USATSI In Week 12, several players entered the Fantasy Football radar. This could be the start of something special for some of these players, and you’ll want to be well ahead of the Week 13 Fantasy Football exemption by putting these players on your radar. To learn more about each player we discussed below, you should check out Jamey Eisenberg’s in-depth waiver column from Monday afternoon. This is great news for Samson. One thing the Browns will focus on with Sanders at quarterback is providing him with easy outlets in the passing game. Sanders took first-team reps and didn’t see many plays at NFL speed (preseason isn’t the same speed). The screen passes and quick hitters designed for Sampson will serve as an extension of the run game they intend to lean on. Sampson has proven to be an explosive playmaker early this season and I have a sneaking suspicion he could develop into a role player in the Sanders-led offense. I’m hiding him this week in 12-team or deeper leagues.Shedeur Sanders, QB, BrownsSanders’ raw stat line looks a lot better than his EPA per game, but the raw stats play into Fantasy Football and as long as he can hit a few explosive plays in each game, then he’s worth monitoring. I’m waiting this week to confirm that on the All-22, but it seems pretty obvious that Sanders should have started in place of Dillon Gabriel weeks ago. I say this as someone skeptical of Sanders’ ceiling. It’s yet another accusation against Gabriel. But Sanders does some things that are fantasy-friendly. He can create off-script plays on the field because he keeps his eyes up when he’s breaking the pocket. He’s also much more accurate than Gabriel, which will lead to more plays, like the long gain to Jerry Jeudy where he broke the pocket, replaced his feet, and then trusted his mechanics to deliver the ball accurately downfield. I’ve seen Gabriel miss these shots all season. Sanders has enough on offense and a growing relationship with Sampson. I wouldn’t add him in leagues that start with just one quarterback just yet. Cam Ward, QB, TitansWelcome to the world of Fantasy Football, Mr. #1 overall pick, Cam Ward! We saw flashes before this season, but Ward put together a strong second half and that translated into his stellar Fantasy performance in his rookie season. Ward racked up 256 passing yards and a touchdown and ran more. Ward finished with six carries for 37 yards and a touchdown. He was the fifth highest scoring Fantasy QB on Sunday Night Football. Ward could have some late-season value in the 2QB and SuperFlex leagues. John Metchie, WR, Jets It’s the Tyrod Taylor era for the Jets – at least for now – and he certainly likes getting Metchie involved. Metchie finished Week 12 with six catches on seven targets for 65 yards and a score. For now, he’s just a hiding place. Metchie could move into the WR3 range in specific positive matchups if he continues to build his relationship with Taylor. Darnell Mooney, WR, Falcons This one only applies to superficial leagues, but if Mooney is still on your waiver list, fix that. He is and has always been a favorite of Kirk Cousins. Their relationship will continue to grow with more practice repetitions. Mooney is a threat to score with any touch. The cousins still manage to get the ball out at the right time – well, at least sometimes – despite some physical characteristics having diminished.
