The Box UP is now available in Burgdorf. The rental station, financed by the canton, offers soccer balls, badminton, Frisbees and more to rent via app.
As the city of Burgdorf writes, the Schützematt invites you to enjoy some sporting variety outdoors, even on cold, wet winter days. “Box Up”, the sports equipment rental station for the population, is now there. The lending station was financed by the Canton of Bern and is available to everyone all year round.
The canton of Bern wants to increasingly promote sporting activities and exercise habits among the Bernese population. For this purpose, the Office for Civil Protection, Sport and Military (BSM) has purchased several rental stations for sports equipment and is handing them over free of charge to the recipient communities selected through an application process. Burgdorf is one of them.
On the morning of November 20, 2025, the longed for box was delivered. It is stocked with footballs, badminton sets, frisbees and table tennis accessories. Younger children can fly the large kite into the air, and a battle rope – a thick, heavy training rope that is used for whole-body strength and endurance training – is available for workouts by ambitious athletes.
Rent sports equipment via app
The items are released electronically using the app. The registration process takes a few minutes. Attention: ID card is required (for return).
The system is equipped with a solar panel and does not require an additional power source. The Box-UP system is now available to the public. If the offer is in high demand, the sports commission will examine other locations in Burgdorf.
