Giannis Injury: Timeline & Updates

Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo will be out for one to two weeks with a groin strain, sources told ESPN

The star of the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo, suffered a mild inguinal strain in the left knee and will be baja between one and two weeksas reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday.

It’s good news after Antetokounmpo left Monday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to this injury.

Bucks coach Doc Rivers called the injury “good news” in an interview with Bucks on Tuesday.

Rivers explained that Antetokounmpo began complaining about his groin as early as the first quarter of Monday’s game and grabbed his left groin several times before leaving the field. With 3:03 left in the second quarter, Antetokounmpo limped on defense before drawing a foul and heading to the Bucks locker room.

Antetokounmpo has had one of the best starts of his career, averaging 32.6 points on 63% shooting from the field, 11.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists in his first 12 games this season. The Bucks have become even more reliant on their superstar: Their 36.4% usage rate ranked second in the NBA as of Monday and represented Antetokounmpo’s highest usage rate since the 2022-23 season.

Without their superstar, the Bucks were outscored 59-49 and made just 38.6% of their shots after halftime against the Cavaliers, suffering their first consecutive loss of the season. With this loss, the Bucks are 8-7 and 1-1 in games Antetokounmpo has missed this season.
