The absence of MotoGP superstar Marc Marquez from the crucial 2025 Valencia MotoGP event is creating significant ripples within the Lenovo Ducati team, particularly concerning the development of their upcoming Desmosedici GP26.
Gigi Dall’Igna, a key figure at Lenovo Ducati, has openly expressed his concerns about how Marquez’s injury impacts the team’s strategic testing and development schedule. The plan was to leverage the final five races of the 2025 season, including the Valencia round, to gather vital data and refine the new bike. Though, Marquez’s unfortunate injury sustained during the recent Indonesian Grand Prix has derailed these intentions.
This setback means that Lenovo Ducati will largely have to rely on the insights of their reigning champion, Francesco Bagnaia, during the Valencia weekend (November 14-16, 2025). Simultaneously occurring, World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK) rider Nicolo Bulega has been brought in as a replacement for marquez, a role he began in the previous Portugal round.
“Marc’s absence at Valencia is undeniably a missed opportunity for our motorbike development,” dall’Igna stated, as reported by Juara.net from Motosan. “From a competitive standpoint, it doesn’t present an issue…”
