Green-White Dominates west German Championships: U11-U19 Stars Shine with Three Titles and Five More podiums
Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany – November 10, 2023 – The future of German badminton is on full display as the West German Championships for the U11 to U19 age groups concluded this past weekend in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The prestigious event, which saw 375 of the region’s top young talents battle it out across 24 competitions, proved to be a resounding success for the VfB Grün-weiß Mülheim club, who proudly secured three championship titles and an impressive five additional podium finishes.
This haul of hardware is a testament to the dedication and talent cultivated within the Grün-Weiß program. The club, a powerhouse in regional badminton, saw 20 of its promising athletes qualify for the championships, demonstrating the depth of their youth progress pipeline.
Leading the charge for Grün-Weiß was Dana Arnold. Arnold, a force to be reckoned with, clinched the championship title in the U17 girls’ doubles alongside her partner Eva Heiden of 1. BC Beuel. Not content with just one title,Arnold also showcased her individual prowess by securing a bronze medal in the U17 girls’ singles. This dual success is akin to a young athlete winning both a singles and doubles title at a major tennis tournament – a rare and impressive feat.

Rounding out the impressive podium finishes, Tom Soballa and Julian Olthoff (1. BV Mülheim) battled their way to a bronze medal in the U15 boys’ doubles.
Elisabeth Salzmann, who spearheads the youth development efforts at VfB Grün-Weiß Mülheim, expressed her delight with the team’s performance. We were vrey well represented again this year and were able to get involved almost everywhere,
