Christophe Pélissier was pissed. Present at a press conference after the defeat against Olympique de Marseille this Saturday on a goal from Angel Gomes (0-1), the Auxerre coach attacked the referee of the match Benoît Bastien.
According to him, the man with the whistle should have excluded Matt O’Riley, guilty of a big foul on Lasso Coulibaly in the first period.

We have a seriously injured player (Lasso Coulibaly), the opposing player is yellow. Christophe Pélissier then gave news of the Ivorian striker, predicting a fairly serious injury: “A priori, yes, it swelled immediately. This is where I think the referee didn’t do his job. He’s there to protect the integrity of the players, but for me he didn’t do that. Quite simply.”
“Maybe we don’t have the level”
With this new defeat against Marseille, Auxerre is 17th with two points behind the play-off, Lorient and records a third consecutive defeat. Something to distress Christophe Pélissier: “We have the ranking that we deserve. We play good matches but we lose. We are not rewarded but perhaps we simply do not have the level.” Against Angers next week, the Auxerrois will try to get back up.
