MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Austin Reaves hit the game-winning shot just before the end to finish with 28 points and lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 116-115 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
Reaves tied his career-high with 16 assists, Jake LaRavia scored 27 points on 10-of-11 shooting, and DeAndre Ayton added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, who built a 20-point lead late in the third quarter and led 112-101 after a 3-pointer by Reaves with 4:01 left.
Los Angeles prevailed after the Wolves took the lead with a late 14-2 run.
Julius Randle, who led the Wolves with 33 points, capped the furious comeback by hitting the go-ahead layup with 10.2 seconds left. Jaden McDaniels added 30 points and seven rebounds for the Wolves.
The star power of this game was considerably diminished with the absence of Luka Doncic and LeBron James for the Lakers and Anthony Edwards for the Wolves. Reaves, who set a career-high 51 points in a win over Sacramento on Sunday and scored 41 on Monday in a loss to Portland, has had something to say about his play.
