RFC Liège Win & D1B Results: Match Summaries

The eleventh day of the Pro League continued this evening with three matches on the program. The poster between RFC Liège and RWDM Brussels proved to be quite prolific.

RFC Liège – RWDM, a match marked by a reunion for Alexis De Sart, who arrived in the Principality this summer. But his former Molenbeek teammates were not emotional at the start of the match. Pjotr Kestens took advantage of a counter to open the scoring after seven minutes, Gaëtan Robail then made the break from a tight angle five minutes later (12th, 0-2).

The match could have been folded, but Rocourt continued to sing. RFC Liège pushed and came back within two minutes. De Sart first reduced the score after a nice delivery from Oumar Diouf in the rectangle, before Alexis Lefebvre equalized with a vicious cross from Kylian Hazard (19e, 2-2).

RFC Liège is on the rise

In the general jubilation, Lefebvre then took advantage of the mistakes of the visiting defense to make it 3-2 before the half-hour mark. Trailing by a goal at half-time, the RWDM pushed from the restart but were cut short by the exclusion of Huginho and the injury exit of Robail on the hour mark. The Sang et Marine took the opportunity to make it 4-2 via Diouf, served by Jonathan D’Ostillo. Despite the reduction of the visitors’ score in added time from the penalty spot (4-3), RFC Liège thus signs a fourth success in a row and temporarily climbs onto the podium. For its part, the RWDM remains eighth.

At the other end of the Province of Liège, it was a former member of Rocourt who opened hostilities for Eupen. Zakaria Atteri in fact launched the Pandas against the Genk U23s by opening the score shortly before half-time. The Kehrweg exulted a second time after the break, on Logan Delaurier-Chaubet’s break goal. Despite the reduction in the score of a Luca Oyen in renewed form, Eupen signs a second victory in a row and climbs to fifth place.

At the top of the rankings, Beveren received the Patro Eisden. The Waeslandiens won 2-1, thanks to a double from the inevitable Lennart Mertens. Marink Reedijk’s troops are provisionally six points ahead of Kortrijk at the top of D1B.
