Thirteen goals and a Santa gift in the Nevoga arena! In the match with Opava, the Eagles scored and crushed the guests 13:1 in front of their own audience. They dictated the pace of the match from the first minutes, did not allow Opava more than one goal and thus continue their excellent home results.
At the start of the match, the Znojmo team were very active and led 1:0 after more than three minutes of the game. After throwing Adam Zeman into the fire in front of the goal, he was the most emphatic in the goal area Mikuláš Bícha and pushed the disc all the way past Slíž’s back. And the Orli, in a similar pace as they started, and which brought them fruit, continued. In the sixth minute, they finally led by two goals. Pavel Jenyš kept the puck and with his pass found the lone man Tomáš Komínekwho didn’t knock over Slíž’s concrete the first time, but the second attempt already worked for him, because the Opava goalkeeper was not in a good position and the Znojmo attacker calmly directed the puck over the goal line.
In thirty seconds, however, Znojmo could rejoice for the third time in the match, as Adam Zeman got into a separate escape, but he could not beat the masked man Slezana, as Slíž had a well-placed catch. Opava did not rest even after this action, because Kovalčík was sent off due to a foul for driving into the fence, and the South Moravians were given the opportunity of a power play, which they finally used even three seconds before the end of the game. Zeman, who drove along the guardrail, sent the disc still in motion Matyáš Svoboda and he precisely swept away the cobwebs of the Opava goal with his shot. A scenario quite similar to the one that preceded the previous goal followed, again an exclusion on the opponent’s side and the Znojmo power play being used again. This time it looked like it was Jan Půček he was fouled, but he curiously managed to get the puck behind Slíž’s back in the fall and thus became the author of the fourth dart, which ended up between the three poles of the Moravian-Silesian shrine.
At the end of the period, the Znojmo defender Jan Hodinář was still sent off, but despite the siege of Štipčák’s goal, Opava did not get into a more dangerous situation, so with a score of 4:0 and the prospect of a numerical advantage in the next period, the players went to the cabins for Slezan.
In the middle part of the match, the Eagles again took care of the goal share, and again after a relatively short time, when in the twenty-fifth minute he became the author of the fifth goal Tomas Kominekwho received a charge from Maxim Sakmár and gave Slíž no chance with a hard blow. But after sixty-six seconds it was already 6:0. Vašiček’s shot hit the post of Slezana’s goal, but he grabbed the rebounded puck Mikuláš Bíchawho again turned his emphasis into success and increased the score.
Subsequently, however, the visitors got into a double power play, when first Svoboda and then Otava were expelled. Again, it came in handy in the end. Štindla’s recording addressed Radim Štěpánek she found her rightful owner and the attacker from Opava shot Štipčák with a shot from the ring. In the end, this goal was also the last one that ended up in the Znojmo net, because then only Znojmo was in charge.
In the thirty-third minute, he got a shot from the blue Jiří Remta and increased the score to 7:1 with a beautiful shot. But even the seventh goal was not enough for Znojm and the demolition of Opava continued. Another, the eighth goal, was provided by the attacking trio from the first line, when they performed a very handsome combination, which they cleared into the net without much difficulty Pavel Jenyš. A few seconds after the goal, Mikuláš Bícha fouled with his elbow and Znojmo went within four, but rather than the opponent, it was the eagle squadron’s advantage again, because it escaped the defense of Slezana when it was weakened Roman Otava and hit exactly under Slíž’s trap. This was the first used weakening in the season.
By the end of the third, however, the Znojmo hockey players finally scored the first ten goals of the year. First, Jenyš did not convert from a favorable position after Komínek’s offer, but he did not have to be too sorry, as he completed the dream tenth goal Mikuláš Bíchawho, thanks to the emphasis in front of the goal, once again brought joy to the home fans.
The Eagles flew into the last period again with two quick goals. The first, and at the same time the eleventh today, scored from close range Chimneywho, like Bícha, also completed a hat trick. In a few moments, however, he was already watching how the hockey player with number 92 rejoiced again after Bárta’s accurate recording and swift goal shot – Mikuláš Bícha. In the rest of the third period, there were several exclusions on the Znojmo side, but here Opava did not use the numerical advantage again. Nineteen seconds before the end, the puck fell behind substitute Pernici’s back for the last time, and Znojmo’s Nevoga Arena heard the goal siren for the thirteenth time, because even Tomas Kominek scored his fourth goal in the duel when he used a skillful pass across the axis of the rink from Hodinář and cleared the puck into the net. At the same time, he ended the demolition of Znojmo, which was also on the scoreboard with a score of 13:1 in favor of the home team.
Testimonials from coaches
Pavel Zdráhal (Opava): The result of the match is a difference of two leagues and we are ashamed of our performance. We knew that Znojmo can score goals, they have quality players and they train at a professional level. However, I do not want to excuse the result or our players. We told ourselves that we needed to keep the score 0-0 for as long as possible, that could make the home team nervous and they wouldn’t like it that much, which didn’t happen. We were getting goals from set pieces, which we must not allow. Znojmo got comfortable and players of his quality, who have played in the extra league, the first league, or abroad, then it is very difficult to defend themselves. We also have some bad luck and several juniors played in the match, we have to get over it and prepare for the next match.
