Up to Him” Rumour: My Response

Niklas Folin has been teased in Västerås recently.

Now the defender and sporting director Niklas Johansson responds to the rumor that he would be on his way out.

– I will do my best every day here to take my place back, he says VLT.

The defensively strong defender Niklas Folin has ended up outside the team in Västerås recently. The last time Folin played for Västerås was two weeks ago, in the home match against Modo. Since then, the hill has been sitting in the stands.

– Eight are better. Just practice every day and try to do better. It goes fast in hockey, the chance comes all of a sudden, Folin adds VLT after Tuesday’s practice.

VIK coach Peter Andersson confirmed after Friday’s loss against AIK that it was a pure poke. Other players are considered to give the team a better chance of winning. Despite the situation, Folin describes the dialogue with the coaching staff as good.

– It’s going well. They said what they thought, so that’s good,” he says.

Folin has been poked in four straight games, but according to himself there are no plans to leave the club. He has not heard anything about the interest from Modo, which sports director Henrik Gradin mentioned in the media.

– I am a Västerås player, and I will do my best every day here to take my place back, he says.

VIK’s sports director Niklas Johansson also emphasizes that the situation is about competition after the new acquisitions Karl Annborn and Emil Stadin.

– It is a competitive situation and at the moment he is not playing. It’s more up to him if he wants to play, and up to Peter to take him out. It’s something we haven’t had before, that there is competition for the places, so it’s actually something positive, then of course it’s unfortunate for the player who ends up there, says Johansson and dismisses speculation about contract termination.
