Allen & Robinson: NFL Week 1 Takeaways

Highlights from the NFL game between the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons inflicted a second straight defeat on the Buffalo Bills by winning 24-14 on Monday in Atlanta.

Falcons star running back Bijan Robinson demonstrated once again why he is one of the most dynamic players in the NFL. Robinson had 170 rushing yards, which tied his career high. He finished with 238 total yards and one touchdown.

No one can catch Robinson for 81 yards During a first down for the Falcons, Bijan Robinson runs for 81 yards and allows the Georgian team to take off.

His teammate Drake London also stood out. He caught 10 passes for 158 yards and a major. Quarterback Michael Penix finished the game with 250 air yards and a touchdown pass.

On the opposite side, his opposite number, Josh Allen, was much less convincing. He had a difficult evening of work, with only 181 passing yards and two interceptions, in particular.

It was Tyler Allgeier who got the ball rolling with a 21-yard rushing touchdown on the Falcons’ initial offensive sequence. A Bijan Robinson fumble on the very first play on offense was overturned due to a defensive penalty.

The Bills responded quickly, however. First, Josh Allen connected with Canadian receiver Josh Palmer for 46 yards, and Allen capped the series on offense with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Dawson Knox on third down and 13.

Drake London gave Atlanta the lead again by stretching his arm for a nine-yard touchdown.

Bijan Robinson delivered a solid blow to Buffalo by hitting an 81-yard home run for the major. The longest race of his young career widened the gap to 14 points.

Halfway through the second quarter, Bijan had more total yards than the Bills (132 to 127).

Several players fell in combat during this second quarter, on one side or the other.

Josh Palmer, Terrel Bernard and Jake Matthews all suffered lower body injuries and did not return to the game.

With just 10 seconds left in the first half, the Falcons’ air defense, one of the best in the league, made Allen pay. Dee Alford made the interception to put the Falcons in good position.

And Atlanta thought it would retreat to the locker room with a 28-7 lead when Drake London escaped, but he left the playing area at the one-yard line before he crossed the end zone.

At halftime, he had 9 receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown. Atlanta led the Bills 335 to 131 in total yards.

Ray Davis brought the Bills back into the game with a middle finger on a short pass from Allen early in the third quarter, but the Bills couldn’t get the score back.

Allen threw a second interception with less than a minute left and the Falcons earned their third victory in 2025.

Buffalo will try to get back to winning ways against the Carolina Panthers on October 26. The Bills will take advantage of a week off to recharge their batteries.
