Montería Departmental Games: Road to Success

In an act full of enthusiasm and support for local sport, the mayor of Montería, Hugo Kerguelén García, officially delivered the uniforms and the flag of the city to the 442 athletes that will represent the municipality in the V Departmental and Paradepartamental Games, which will take place from October 4 to 25.

The event brought together athletes from more than 30 disciplines, including football, basketball, taekwondo, swimming and athletics, among others. During the ceremony, Kerguelén urged young people to compete with delivery, passion and pride in Montería, highlighting that they are “the reflection of the effort, discipline and talent of our city.”

The president also ratified the commitment of his administration to strengthening the sport, highlighting the historical investments made and the positioning of Montería as an epicenter of national and international sporting events. “We have put our athletes in the place they deserve, with a great investment in infrastructure, training and organization of events that boost the economy and generate opportunities,” he said.

Among the disciplines with the greatest representation are football (34 athletes), Bádminton (27), Karate (26), Handball (25), Rugby (24), Basketball (24), Taekwondo (30) and softball (30), reflecting the diversity and potential of the Monterian talent.

The delivery of the uniforms and the flag symbolizes not only the institutional support, but also the confidence in a generation of athletes that continues to leave the name of the city.
