The 2025-2026 badminton season is officially underway, kicking off with a vibrant launch at the Léo Lagrange club in Blaye-les-Mines. This local club, a cornerstone of the community’s athletic scene, celebrated its participation in the recent sports festival held on the Endrevié website, signaling a strong start to the competitive year.
With a renewed sense of purpose and a relaxed yet focused atmosphere, training sessions have resumed. The Blaye-les-Mines Badminton Club (BCLL) is proud to announce a robust membership of 110 players, comprising 80 adults and 30 eager young athletes. This strong turnout underscores the club’s appeal and its commitment to fostering a thriving badminton community.
The club offers a comprehensive training schedule designed to accommodate players of all skill levels.Practice sessions are available Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m., as well as Saturday mornings. These sessions are held at the gymnasium adjacent to the high school and in the Candou room, providing ample space and resources for dedicated practice. Following the initial September surge, the competitive calendar is set to heat up. Players can look forward to the conventional opening tournament in Castres this October, marking the begining of the Interclubs season for the club’s three teams. Younger players will also get their competitive fix with the CDJ (Children’s Department Games) events for the Badminton school in Rabastens.
Dedicated youth programs are a key focus, with specialized training slots led by coaches Loïc and justine. For those seeking a more recreational experience, Jérémy and Quentin are at the helm of leisure activities. the club has also secured a prime slot on Thursday evenings in the Candou hall in Carmaux. This valuable space will be utilized for hosting a youth tournament (CDJ) on January 17th, a collaborative effort in partnership with the CODEP, further enriching the competitive landscape for young badminton enthusiasts.
The undisputed highlight of the season, promising to be a major draw for players and spectators alike, is the Carmaux National Tournament. Scheduled for the end of June, this prestigious event will celebrate its 20th anniversary, a testament to its enduring legacy and popularity within the sport. As the club looks to the future, a critically important leadership transition is underway.After years of dedicated service and invaluable contributions, Ahmed Baach and Céline Montes are passing the torch. During the recent general Assembly, Adeline Chevillot and Loïc Vidal were enthusiastically elected as the new co-presidents of the club, poised to guide BCLL into its next chapter of success.
