A new era of city basketball is dawning in Novara, Italy, with the official launch of union Basket Novara.This ambitious project, born from the merger of Basket College Novara and Polisportiva San Giacomo, with the backing of Universal Basket, is setting its sights on bringing the city’s colors to Serie C, a significant step up in Italian basketball leagues.
the official unveiling of the Union Basket Novara project and its sporting season for 2025-26 took place on September 20th. In front of a crowd of families, athletes, and representatives from the founding institutions, the unified identity was proudly reiterated: a team composed of some of the youngest players in the league. this focus on youth growth is a cornerstone of the new association.
“Our youth project is a heritage for the city, built with courage and trust in the boys,” explained Andrea Del Conte, president of Basket College. Thanks to the collaborations with San Giacomo, Universal, Vigevano 1955, and of course with the Borgomanero college, today we can say that we have built the best youth basketball laboratory of the last thirty years in Novara.
Dario Corbellini, the sports director, echoed this sentiment, stating, In Novara, something really significant for basketball and for the community is being created.
On the side of Polisportiva San Giacomo, sports director Massimo Ascione highlighted the organization’s commitment to women’s basketball, a program that began in 2013. We want to offer them a safe, welcoming, and stimulating habitat. The arrival of new athletes and the return of some veterans makes us look at the future with confidence,
