Daniel Ståhl: World Cup Final Qualification

66.50 was the qualifying limit to secure a place in the final. Swedish Daniel Ståhl was first out in the first qualifying group, and threw 69.90 directly.

– Rhythmically good throw. Big through all the way. Then I was determined. It’s about getting the speed, size and rhythm. That is the goal, instead of taking in too much, Ståhl tells SVT Sport.

The throw is Ståhl’s longest since June (where he threw 70.19 and 70.14) and his third longest this year.

Praised: “A strong bear”

After the hit he celebrated with dance – which he is praised for by coach Staffan Jönsson.

– I love when individuals dare to be themselves. He is a strong bear, but he is also a gaming vink at the same time. Not many people dare to dance out there, so it’s a wonderful receipt, he says.

33-year-old Ståhl was also back where he won the Olympic gold in 2021.

– I just brought in all the energy. It was on the verge of being a little moved. It was, after all, it happened. It is incredibly powerful to be here.

Daniel Ståhl: “I’m underdog”

Ståhl is reigning world champion, from Budapest 2023. This year he threw ninth at the far end of the world.

– I’m underdog, I have nothing to prove really. I’ve already won everything.

Still underdog for the final, with 69.90 in the first?

– Oh, that’s me. I have won the Olympics and the World Cup. Now it is the other guys who need to win it.

World Fire Ralford Mullings missed qualifying for the World Cup final.

The final is on Sunday, 13.10 Swedish time.
