CPSS Season Victory: Standings Confirmed

In the final, fifth stage of the Latvian Championship Roller Skiing, the Cesis City Sports School (CPSS) athletes had an important task – to protect the leading position in the team rankings, and this task was performed shiny.

The fifth stage took place in two cities: Madona, where participants competed in Duatlon and Skicrosa, and in Riga, where there was a team sprint.

Duatlons a skikross

The duatlon, which took place in Madona, Smeceres Sila Base, was first a jogging cross, followed by a roller skiing, summing up the results of both disciplines together.

In both disciplines, the S18, showing the third best time, Annija Krievina, on the second step of the second step of the podium, and Amelija Zaķe in 5th place.

In the V16 group, Gustav Berzins was fifth in the cross -country, but winning a silver medal in the roller skiing. Immediately behind the podium Armands Gulbis, but in 5th place Arthur Zaķis.

In the S16 group, the fight for the top three was very fierce, with all three athletes in the finish in five seconds. The winner was CPSS student Adele Schlzina, who won the cross country but was third in the roller. 4.3 seconds behind Dart Ruļuks from Madona BJSS and five seconds from Adrian Eisaka (Ogre Biathlon Club). In 4th place was Nellija Puriņa, 6 Zane Salmiņa.

In the V14 group, excellent performance for Gundars Cālītis, who showed the second score in cross -country, won the roller skiing, becoming the national champion in the overall standings. The bronze medal was won by Otto’s air, but Miķelis Klimovičs and Gustavs Spolītis finished in sixth place in the overall standings.

Miks Klimovičs 4th in the V12 group, and two medals for CPSS students in S12. Louise Spalvina won the first in both disciplines and Alice Krastiņa in third place.

The most recent group members made the obstacle course, or the scyp. Here’s a particularly successful start to the CPSS girls, who took the entire podium in the S10 group, but in total, five Cēsis. Maija Apine won, the second slow Spalviņa, the third Madara Skele, the fifth Elizabeth Cercina, the sixth Alice Rogozina.

In the V50 group, Cēsis Ivo Caune won another gold medal at this year’s championship, and the silver medal for another Cēsis Maris Zariņš.

Team sprint

On Sunday, the athletes went to Riga, where the Victory Park took place in the team sprint freestyle with two participants. Annija Krieviņa/ Amelija Zaķe became the champions in the S18 group, overtaking the second place from Riga Sports School Arkadia by more than three minutes.

In the V16 group, the fight for victory was between three teams, two of which were represented by CPSS. Arthur Zaķis/ Gustavs Berzins in the finish, but the bronze medals were won by Armands Gulbis/ Klāvs Gavars.

A similar situation in the S16 group, where Nellija Puriņa/ Adele Šļeziņa won, and in third place Zane Salmiņa/ Sendija Dūmiņa.

In the V14 group, the silver medal was won by Otto Air/ Gundars Cālītis, losing to the winners in less than six seconds. In 5th place Gustavs Spolītis/ Jānis Lingarts, sixth- Roy Skrastiņš/ Miķelis Klimovičs.

Marta Brence/ Elza Krastiņa became champions in the S14 group. 5th place Melissa Petrovich/ Rebecca Martinova, and 6th place Elisa Vayd/ Esther Vanaga.

Otto Selga/ Miks Klimovičs in second place in the V12 group, and 6th Martin Petrovich/ Renārs Zaķis. Alice Krastiņa/ Louise Spalviņa won the S12 group. Three more CPSS teams: Fourth Alice Zarina/ Adriana Lukstiņa, 5th Karlina Dedumeta/ Justine Dedumeta, 6. Tīna Grosheva/ Liva Driķe.

In the S10 group, the first Elizabeth Cercina/ Maija Apine, the second is a slow spal/ Madara Skele.

Ranked leading positions

After the race, the seasonal ranking was also awarded and, as mentioned, CPSS won the team. This summer, it scored 12,563 points. We have already written that before the final stage, the CPSS lead over the followers with 2,400 points and not only to protect it, but even increase it, as Madona BJSS finished with 9,210 points. In third place is the sports school “Arkadia” with 8960 points.

According to the CPSS, this summer, the school’s students won 85 awards in the National Championship: 29 gold, 33 silver and 23 bronze medals.

As CPSS trainer Ilze Cekule admitted after the season’s end award, the overall results are surprisingly encouraging: “This was a very successful season for us!

When asked if the Cēsis has become stronger or the main competitors Madonians – a little weaker, the trainer admits that it cannot be said unequivocally: “I would say this is the result of full workouts because coaches have worked with athletes all summer. There are problems with the little guys in the V10 group, where students are missing, but it seems that there will be a better way to add that this shortfall is not felt in the future. ”

If the Cēsis is always doing well in the summer, the Madonians are superior in the winter, so this lead should be held.

“In the summer, everything is clear when we can train, when the race, but in the winter, the weather is introduced, and it also has an impact on the results. But we hope to recover the lead in the winter,” says Cekule.

The season is not over the season, as this Sunday in Cesis there will be a traditional competition “Cesis Rollersprints”, which will take place on A. Kronvalda Street near Wolf Systems.
