Aaron Sonnenschein and Marvin Datko win the I Feel Slovenia Li-Ning Future Series 2025. After victories over the top seeds and a final victory against a Dutch duo, the DBV young players celebrate their biggest international title to date.
Hard draw, strong appearance
The path to the Future Series final in 2025 was tough – and was crowned success at the end. After a confident opening victory, the biggest hurdle was waiting in round two: the Swiss Yann OREU and Minh Quang Pham, set in position one. In a high -class duel, Sonnenschein/Datko prevailed with 26:24, 21:23, 21:15 and thus laid the foundation for their later triumph.
“I think we had one of the most difficult draws that you could have had at the tournament and we could still prevail. And we have the feeling that we have made a clear step forward,” said Aaron Sonnenschein after the tournament victory in Slovenia.
The two moved into the final with two clear two-set victories. The Dutch duo Noah Haase/Joep Strooper was waiting there. This final was also competitive – in the end the Germans cheered: 21:14, 22:20. This secured Sonnenschein/Datko their first international tournament victory in the men’s double. For the newly formed duo, which only had a final form at the FZ Forza Future Series Nouvelle-Aquitaine 2025 at the FZ Forza Future Series Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the triumph was also the confirmation of the strong form-and another step forward.
Strong appearances also in singles
From the perspective of the German Badminton Association (DBV) there was reason not only in doubles. In the women’s singles, Ella Neve and Katharina Nilges each reached the round of 16. In the men’s singles, Justin Seibel convinced with a strong quarter-finals. Only the Englishman Sid Palkalkal stopped the course of the German (16:21, 19:21).
“The tournament went very well, even if it was not enough for a medal. My first game was almost the hardest, but when it was won, I came into a flow and the next games felt very good. In the quarter -finals, my opponent has better controlled and ultimately earned,” said Seibel. Luis Pongratz failed in round two.
