The Tennis Canada Association announced on Tuesday that the Davis Cup national fight in World Group I between Canada and Israel will be held in Halifax without spectators.

The reason is growing security concerns. The decision was made in coordination with the International Tennis Association ITF after local authorities and national security agencies had feared a risk of considerable disorders of the event.

The reason is the Middle East conflict. In an open letter, Tennis Canada asked 400 activists, academics, athletes and writers to cancel the event because of the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
