Nehemiah Queta (* July 13, 1999 in Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese basketball player who plays as a center at the Boston Celtics in the NBA. With his selection in the 2021 NBA draft in 2021, he became the first Portuguese, which was ever drafted and played in the NBA.
Queta started his basketball career at Barreirense (2009–2017) and then played for Benfica Lisbon (2017–2018). In 2018 he moved to Utah State University, where he played Aggies for Utah State. In his college career, he was awarded several times, including as Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year (2019, 2021) as well as as First‑team All‑Mountain West (2021). In the 2020-21 season, he scored an average of 14.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game.[[1]
In the 2021 NBA draft 2021, Queta was selected in 39.[[2] He gave his NBA debut in December 2021. In the following years he played for the Sacramento Kings and temporarily for their G-League team, the Stockton Kings.
In September 2023, Queta signed a Two Way contract with the Boston Celtics. He contributed to the Celtics championship in the 2023–24 season and thus secured his first NBA title. He became the first Portuguese player to win an NBA title.[[3]
Queta played for Portugal at various European junior European championships and in the A-National team at the 2025 European Central Basketball Championship, in which he has contributed significantly to the first victory of Portugal since 2007 in the first group game against the Czech Republic (23 points, 18 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals).[[4] Portugal resigned against world champion Germany in the round of 16; Queta was the best player in his team again with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
