Within the framework of the most recent session of the Board of Directors of Cormagdalena, the governor of Santander, Major General (R) Juvenal Díaz Mateus, actively participated in the definition of strategies to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the main river artery of the country: the Magdalena River.
During the meeting, pending points related to navigation and infrastructure projects were approved, the assigned resources were reviewed and the port concessions were followed, with the aim of guaranteeing greater safety and operational efficiency in the navigable sections.
Commitment to sustainability and regional development
The Santandereano president highlighted in his social networks that “with transparency, responsible planning and unified action, we demonstrate the performance of the work in favor of the economic and environmental development of the Magdalena River Basin.” His participation reaffirms the commitment of the department to the integral management of this strategic ecosystem, which connects Santander with the rest of the country and represents a key opportunity for logistics, commercial and environmental reactivation.
The session was attended by representatives of the National Government, mayors of riverside municipalities and delegates of the port, environmental and energy sectors. Among the issues addressed, the follow-up to the Master Plan for Integral Management and Sustainable Use of the Magdalena-Cauca Macro, as well as administrative adjustments in the structure of the Corporation.
Santander’s participation in this national decision space reaffirms its leadership in the Sustainability and River Competitiveness Agenda.
With strategic vision and inter -institutional articulation, the department advances towards a development model that recognizes the value of the Magdalena River as a engine of progress and connectivity.
