18-year-old Leo Mountain was a promising boxer who became North West region champion last September.

“Leo had a master’s heart both inside and outside the ring”writes Leos Boxing Club.

On April 19, Leo was out with friends in the English city of Morecambe. Early in the morning the following day, a truck driver got to see something on the road that resembled a “black garbage bag” and which he did not get away from.

– I don’t think there was any way to avoid the collision. It was only one to two seconds from seeing something on the road, says forensic doctor Emma Mather.

Immediately afterwards, the driver made a horror discovered. It turned out that he had run over Leo which was lying on the road. The 18-year-old’s life could not be saved.

“Incredibly tragic case”

The judicial investigation has now been completed. It showed that Leo had “high levels of alcohol in the body” when he was hit.

After the night out, he had been put in a taxi by his friends. After leaving the vehicle, he walked around the city and eventually stayed on the road where he was hit.

– This is an incredibly tragic case and I am so sorry for his family. I can’t imagine how his family must feel after this loss. He seems to have been a nice young man, says Emma Mather.

The forensic doctor’s conclusion was that Leo died as a result of a traffic accident without suspicion that any crime was committed.

“Leo was an amazing young man”

Leos Boxing Club described the 18-year-old as “an amazing young man”.

“Every boxer, coach and supporter had only love for Leo, he was such a person you couldn’t help but enjoy. He had an infectious personality, spread laughter and joy in every room,” writes the club.

They called Leo “a very talented boxer who had a fantastic attitude” and “will always be missing”.

“Imagine that his messy smile, his joke and his presence will no longer be here is inconceivable. He had so much to give the world and his journey had just begun”writes the club.
