The past summer march was not only dominated by Club Brugge at incoming and outgoing transfers, but also on contract extensions. No fewer than eight players signed, although that process did not always go without a struggle.
The most striking file was that of Lynnt Audoor. The 20-year-old midfielder impressed last season during his lending at KV Kortrijk and was able to count on the interest of various clubs. Union Saint-Gilloise was at the top of his wish list. According to Het Nieuwsblad For a long time, Audoor preferred a switch to the vice champion.
Yet it didn’t get that far in the end. After difficult conversations with Club Brugge, the folds were smoothed out and Audoor put his signature under an extended contract. With that he is currently part of the future plans of Blauw-Zwart.
Other files also dragged on
Audoor was not the only one who doubted. There was also a strong negotiation of youth products such as Jorne Spileers and Romeo Vermant. For Club Brugge it was a priority to tie their young talents for longer, but that was accompanied by intense conversations and interest from outside.
Important signal
Through these contract extensions, Club Brugge makes a clear signal: the youth remains an essential part of the sporting strategy. The club wants to prevent its own talents from leaving too early and breaking through elsewhere. For players such as Audoor, we now have to wait and see how many playing minutes they get effective in a core that again looks very broad this season.
