Something more than two years after starting the works, and with a seven -month delay according to the planned calendar, Les Corts yesterday celebrated the opening ceremony of the new sports center of the Illa, one of the new public jewels of the district, which on Tuesday already had a big day with the beginning of the construction work of a residence for older people long claimed.

The sports equipment, at number 142 of numància, has an area of 4,300 m2, which will allow to fold the capacity of the previous building. In this way, about 1,100 athletes will be able to practice handball, volleyball, living room, rhythmic gymnastics or bádminton. The tape cut was carried out by Mayor Jaume Collboni and the Councilor for Sports (and also of Les Corts), David Escudé.
