Merlin Röhl: Premier League Transfer Confirmed

Merlin Röhl came to the sports club from FC Ingolstadt in August 2022 and initially played with the U23 in the 3rd division. In March 2023, the midfielder gave his Bundesliga debut against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Since then, the 23-year-old has played 60 competitive games for the SC in the Bundesliga, in the DFB Cup and in the Europa League and scored three goals.

Last season, two injury breaks prevented stable operating times. At the end of the season, Merlin Röhl fought back on the pitch and became Vice-European Champion with the German U21 national team at the tournament in Slovakia. In the first three competitive games of the current season, Merlin Röhl was substituted.

“Interest from England has existed for a long time, now an agreement has been reached that is satisfactory for all three sides,” says sports director Klemens Hartenbach. “The move from Merlin to Premier League again shows that young players can go their way through SC Freiburg with a clear conscience. We wish Merlin every success with the Toffees.”
