The final for the German Baseball Championship will be decided at the earliest next Sunday. In the first two of a maximum of five duels, the Guggenberger legionaries and Heidenheim Heidekapps shared the victories.
As expected, the two throwers of throwing dominated the action at the weekend. On Saturday, the Regensburgs won 6-1 at home. On Sunday, the guests countered with a 12: 4 success. The “Best-of-Five” series will continue at the status of 1: 1 on Saturday (5 p.m.) in Heidenheim. Game four will take place on Sunday (2 p.m.) on Brenz. A possible fifth game would be scheduled for September 13th in the Armin Wolf Arena.
Another complete game
The first two games of the final series were characterized by the Starting Pitchers of both teams. On Saturday afternoon, legionnaire Christian Pedrol pressed his stamp on the game. As in the previous week in Hamburg, the German international grew beyond himself and once again played a complete game over nine innings. With his strong performance, the Brazilian -born laid the foundation for the important victory in the first meeting. Ultimately, Pedrol only allowed four opposing hits and three walks. The 25-year-old posted seven strikeouts.
A safe bet

Simon Bäumer sent Devon Ramirez to the 1-0 lead over the HomePlate. Shortly afterwards, Morgan McCullough increased in one fell swoop from Elias von Garßen. After the successful start and with pedrol in the back, the legionnaires continuously expanded their lead without really getting into a deliberate situation.
First hit against pedrol in the seventh inning
Nino Sacasa was the next count for the hosts in the fourth inning. One round later Eric Harms balanced the ball to the double in the Centerfield, which made Daniel Patrice the run possible to 4: 0. Pascal Amon’s blow led to the fifth Regensburg run through Garßen immediately afterwards. The last point of the Schwabelweiser in this game marked Alex Schmidt in the sixth section after a goal from Designated Hitter Bäumer. On the other hand, Germaine only wants the first hit against Pedrol in the seventh in the seventh. Despite Hofmann’s strong performance, the Regensburgers came up to three runs in the sixth round. But the Heidenheimers countered in direct return with four points and thus destroyed the hopes of the home side for a comeback. “You just hit really hard and the deficit was too big in the end to get back again. Nevertheless, we saw a lot of positive things,” said Vance. The bottom line is that the legionnaire has a satisfactory result after the first two final games in nine years. Two other victories are necessary to secure the German championship title for the sixth time in club history.
