One of the worst phrases of the hockey world is that “play off is another competition”. The saddest of the cliché is that it has a real basis. There will be 52 rounds in the extraleague, and you can see who was the best. Every opponent was played four times, the same number of matches at home and outdoors. The risk of chance is minimized.

Whoever takes the first place was the best. Dot.

But the Cup for the Master is handed over to a specific competition, where it is necessary to win a series for three (pre -round) up to four matches. The coincidence factor plays a much more role, because someone else can exclude your opponent you don’t have to.

And someone else can catch a form he never had.

We looked in detail at the five previous extra -league years. He won the title Třinec four times, once a comet. Here’s how the future master has undergone the regular season.

It doesn’t matter. A little bit.

In the history of the Extraleague, 31 years have taken place, followed by the playoffs and the battle for the title. And the consensus that the winner of the regular season won the last match of the season can only be found in eight cases. The probability is 26 %.

The last time Liberec came out in the 2015/2016 season, so we will celebrate ten years in the spring.

Therefore, we are that it is not essential if the club produces a point record according to the basic part, but how its hockey evolves.

The thesis of the national coach Radim Rulík fits perfectly, who, when he is to talk about his team’s goals, usually replies grimly: “I want us to grow and improve gradually.”

For the past five years, the team has needed a coach with a vision who knows at what point it starts, in which it should end and what needs to be done for it.

The patience of leadership plays a big role here. Last season, the Comet crisis went through the comet and the owner Libor Zábranský did not instruct that it was time to dismiss Kamil Pokorný. Instead, he began to change and strengthen the team.

Třinec ended the basic part in 2023 by a big crisis, fans even raised slogans like “Motak Out”, but the coach remained anyway, and for the first time in history, someone won the cup when he started his journey in the preliminary round.

So winning the regular season is certainly not prohibited. But far more important is that the game develops and improves in a pre -determined direction.

The last team that dominated the game in the regular season and then picked up the cup was Varaďův Třinec. It was repeated twice in a row.

A good indicator here is the statistics of the expected goals in five to five, which document well, whether the team has a game superiority or, on the contrary, defends itself. The ending itself is another thing.

In the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, the steelmakers were extremely strong, they were driving the game.

But it is not possible to say that this is the way that leads to the title. The comet won last season with a negative balance of expected goals after the regular season.

Maybe she thinks that she certainly improved at least with the end of the long -term competition. No. She got worse. Her balance for one match in the last quarter looks like this: 2.11: 2.46. She would be tenth.

The essential information is elsewhere. Under Kamil Pokorný, the comet was preparing for the things she wanted to show off in the playoffs. That he will be under pressure? Can be. But he runs, decides, helps with a quick break.

Now look at the negative score again (2,11: 2,46). And here’s a picture of real goals: 2.67: 1.94. This means that the comet was far more efficient in front and at the same time the goalkeeper caught a lot of missiles. Actually something that came in the playoffs.

It is therefore essential to work on the principles to work in the next stage of the season, to correct errors. This is the journey of the Champions.

Probably the most pressing topic. If you want to upset the champion, he can always burn that he has been discussing the title in the last five years.

It can be seen that Třinec chose a completely different tactics in the regular season than a comet, which can be seen in the statistics of the pucks in the offensive third, followed by a shot.

Although it can be difficult to think about steel things, they had an offensive team in 2020-2024 that could launch a good Bengal in the attack. But important information is: he didn’t waste the offensive sluice when he needed. Otherwise he retreated to the hood.

Třinec was a team in its four championship seasons, which cast the most pucks in the extraleague. In the last quarter of the regular season he increased the frequency. Třinec also had the most discarded pucks from his own defensive third. The offensive teams Sparta and Pardubice are located here in the second half of the order.

Here we are heading for the essence – Třinec under the coaches Varaďou and Moták had one major mantra, it is easy to play and everyone has to keep it.

In their championship seasons, the steelmakers had the most acquired pucks in the offensive zone, after which they got to the shot and belonged to the top four teams, which lost the least wheel to burn the opponent. The accent on simplicity led to minimizing mistakes.

And how is it related to the fact that the comet did more passively in getting the discs around the opponent’s gate? Just by relying on a rapid counterattack and stinging. Here she voted another weapon.

The top, however, was because in the last quarter of the regular season she had the smallest number of puck losses in her own third of the whole competition.

This leads us to the previous point when you pour your style to perfection. And there is also the idea that it is important to be able to play simply before the playoffs to minimize any loss of the disc, that is, errors. If the whole team is ready to accept a tactical version, a strong weapon is born.

If you are not named Andrej Neschšil, yes, who shines in the playoffs and pulls productivity, he should put the cannon mode before.

Nesrašil, the leader of Třinec, is the only player of the master in the last five years to win his team’s scoring in the knockout part and the last quarter of the regular season was not dominant.

In the spring, for example, Peter Mueller, Hynek Zohorn and Jakub Flek moved in the last quarter on the edge of the average of one Canadian point (assistance or goal) per match. In the playoffs, all three were among the trumps of Comet.

Ondřej Kacetl did not catch even half of the regular season matches in Třinec. He did not shine, did not dominate and miraculously managed to prepare for the play off.

But the comet of the last playoff won with Michal a character for whom it was the first year in the extraleague and in February celebrated the twenty -third birthday.
