In mid -June, the fourteenth day of that month, the benefit tournament of the small football under the patronage of the Radotín religious community took place again in Prague.
Sports in favor of the benefactors were supported by an event whose aim was to financial assistance to a 15 -year -old boy from Slaný. For him, we collected cash in the tournament. Štěpánek suffers from an autism spectrum disorder with comorbidities, living in an incomplete family with a teenage sister and mother, who is currently undergoing a severe health condition. As part of the tournament, we managed to collect – without twenty crowns – twenty thousand.
The small football tournament has been organized by the religious community since 2017. At that time it was the intention to connect members of our church across diocese in an informal, relaxed, friendly and sports environment. Since then, however, a regular sports event has complemented many different benefit intentions and with them spontaneously assembled teams. We now organize the sports competition twice a year and its scope exceeds the boundaries of our domestic church. It has become a meeting place for various confessions, religions and cultural environments.
At a time when alliances, international treaties, and world order guarantee, at a time of corroding ambitions to set the high goals of the sustainability of planetary ecology, there is a football tournament – where devotees of different religions, cultures and nations will encounter one small human story. It is a statement of faith, engaged participation, a proclamation of hope.
Prices from the protected workshop Fové and ZPP Papernská were taken by the highest teams: Winning Wieluna Eagles, Catholic Pilgrims from Chenstochová, boys from the community center of the Vršovice mana and current and former clients of the lighthouse and crown. The non -applause was also accompanied by non -winning teams composed of members of the Muslim association Ahmadija, graduates of the Hussite Theological Faculty and our clergy and members of local religious municipalities. The event at a distance was also supported by the Slaný cultural and sporting amateur association Obrona Narodow.
When I write to you in six months, “Come to football”, do not turn your eyes in the column. Remember what you can be part!
