Olivier Giroud abandon Los Angeles fc Even though he just joined last year and chose to return to France to strengthen Lille. The 38 -year -old striker claimed that he was not suitable to play on Major League Soccer.
Giroud was initially contracted by LAFC for 18 months after leaving AC Milan in the summer of 2024. But he only lasted for a year and finally agreed to break the cooperation faster.
His last appearance with LAFC occurred on June 29 when he lost 0-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS. In total he only scored five goals in 38 matches.

“The style of play in MLS is not very suitable for me. Returning to France after 13 years is an extraordinary opportunity and challenge for me,” Giroud said when introduced as a new player Lille on Wednesday (2/7/2025), as quoted ESPN.
“I feel in good physical condition, don’t worry. I am ready to accept the challenge. I feel good for my age and I want to play until my body says stop.”
“I need a challenge, to challenge myself, that is what drives my career forward. This challenge is talking to me,” said the winner of the 2018 World Cup with the French national team.
Before joining Lille, Giroud last competed in Ligue 1 in 2012, when he brought Montpellier to win by defeating Paris Saint-Germain who was just acquired by Qatar Sports Investments.
After that he traveled to England to strengthen Arsenal for five and a half seasons and won three FA Cups and three Shiled Community. He then moved to Chelsea in early 2018 and brought the Blues to win the FA Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League.
In 2021, he crossed into Italy to defend Milan and immediately won the Serie A title in his inaugural season. Now he returns home to return to enliven the French League next season.
