The San Lorenzo world has no rest. Last Sunday, during a women’s football match between San Lorenzo and Students, there was no ambulance present in the Sports City, which forced to take the beginning of the match for more than an hour and a half. Finally, the arbitration body decided to suspend it, which caused the cyclone to lose the points and unleash an internal scandal.
Following what happened, Luca Bonafina announced in his X account that Mateo Sagardoy – mayor of the institution – dismissed Dante Monaco, who served as sports director of the club. The measure generated immediate repercussions within the Barca world, and it was Monaco himself who decided to respond publicly.
In a statement released on Monday, Dante Monaco demarcated responsibilities for the absence of the ambulance, clarifying that the management of said service is not part of its functions as sports director. In addition, he affirmed that the position ad honorem since February 2024, by disposition of the president -elect, Marcelo Moretti.
“Anyway, already a consequence of this fact, the self -admitted president of the federated sports Mateo Sagardoy expresses that it runs from office,” he wrote, also mentioning the leaders Julio Lopardo, Andrés Terzano and Martín Cigna as part of that decision.
Monaco described the situation as “unusual” and assured that, although he does not cling to any position, he will not allow abuses or fouls. “My experience of more than 45 years in sports management supports my effort,” he closed.
