What are the feelings after Monday’s approval of the club’s sale?
It is quite legitimate to mark this day as the end of one, and I dare say rich, stages, but also at the beginning of the new era of Olomouc football. Since my accession, I have felt that finding a strategic partner, shareholder, owner is one of the tasks of life and I am glad that we can say that it has been met. As an association we were not a classic shareholder. I said we were a good administrator, but certainly not the owner who would be able to develop professional football somehow and in the long term. But now we believe here. In addition, it is a partner who has been associated with the club for sixty years, moreover with a significant support for the strongest regional entrepreneurs and partners. I am convinced that we put Sigma in good responsible hands, and especially under very favorable entry conditions, as Sigma is the reigning winner of the cup and a certain participant in the basic group of one of the European Cups. Plus with the academy, which has long been evaluated as one of the top three in the Czech Republic.
The transfer of shares is not 100 %, why?
The owner of one share is still the statutory city of Olomouc. That’s the rest of a percent that is missing. But we are preliminarily agreed that it will transfer this one share to a new owner at some time.
Some club officials did not conceal preferences to other offers (Kaprain). Can it cause any split among members who would stay in the club?
The negotiations were not easy at all. As part of our association, we dealt with strategic questions and reached the negotiations from an hour and a half to five. We were not united during the negotiations, but this is not bad in such a strategic question. We were looking for various variants and we were quite strict in negotiations. I think it has a great merit in where we are now. All the time we felt that they had to decide the opinion of a significant majority. Now we all feel that the step we have taken today (Monday) is the most right. It was decided unanimously.
Petr Konečný (Chairman of the Board of Directors SK Sigma Olomouc AS: “I don’t deal with some things. I don’t look at what he writes and so on. I do my job. We tried to act fact. We weren’t on the same ship, but we managed to convince people’s legal and economic aspects that this dealt, which was eventually accepted. We say the decisive point, compare the letter to the contract.
Why did you choose Sigma Sport and not Kaprain?
The negotiations had its course. We set a relatively clearly the conditions under which we are willing to go to the transaction. At the end of negotiations with Kaprain, it turned out that our ideas were so different that Kaprain has ended with the negotiations. But I am pleased to say that Sigma Sport representatives were able to meet the parameters we had set.
Will you be more specific?
In one stage we primarily negotiated with Kaprain. The whole transaction was essential in terms of guarantees, development of guarantees and responsibility of the association. At some point, we couldn’t agree, so we were very pleased that the local group (Sigma Sport) rushed with a helping hand that the previous offer they presented to us was still valid. And we were able to agree very quickly. The regionalism and local interconnection and the fact that we have known each other with Milan Šimonovský and local entrepreneurs for years, contributed to the fact that we were able to complete the transaction very quickly.
Did you mention regional partners, can you bring them closer?
This is a question for the new owner. We see various speculations that take place in the media. If I am very gallant, I think a large part is based on truth.
There was also talk about the involvement of Petr Čech.
We perceive that negotiations with Mr. Čech are taking place. But in what phase it is and what its specific involvement will be, will certainly be part of the July 17 conference.
Jakub Beneš about the connection of Petr Čech and Sigma Olomouc
What annual amount does the new owner guarantee the budget?
I guess I shouldn’t say it specifically. The lowest guarantee is in tens of millions, but I believe it will be much, much more.
Do you have any idea of the club management structure?
I can have an idea, but it’s no longer about my idea.
How much Sigma is sold and how does the association deal with the finances?
Perhaps it is not public information, we are bound by confidentiality, but I can say that the total volume of the transaction, when we are talking about the purchase price, move partners, building a youth center, so it is in the order of hundreds of millions. Some of the money at least for the purchase price goes to the association as such. We are fully prepared to let them back to our club academy and infrastructure for our talented youth and other clubs, because the association as such is not just football, but we have eight sections.
What will be the role of the association that has so far been the majority owner?
I think he gets into the role he performs in all other professional clubs. I can guarantee that we are still ready to be a partner of the development of Olomouc football. I think the association will get into the role it performs in all other professional clubs. He will have the whole youth and girls from the school to the U19 category. This is the question of the development of the club academy and the education of European competitive players. In addition, he is the tenant of Andr’s stadium, partly the owner and tenant of the youth stadium in Řepčín. So he will take care of sports infrastructure and its further development. All discussions with the new owner took place not only in the level of professional football, but also in the question of the joint coordination of the development of the club academy. We have committed that we have to and want to proceed together.
Will a new training center grow up?
It’s in negotiations, we are in the early days, but I believe it should be one of the priority goals. But I wouldn’t want to shoot any data. We must first consider how we are able to develop the current infrastructure, what we have options and then look at another location.

After the last General Meeting, you reported that the transaction and everything you want to manage to start the competition. Will it do?
It’s really just about formalities. We have a signed contract and related documentation contract. Nothing prevents the de facto signature and the handover of shares, so I am convinced that it will be done to the start of the new competition year.
Will it also have an impact on strengthening that some finances would be released to the club before the start?
I hope to see it a bit. I feel good about it and I believe Sigma will be ambitious and competitive.
You say it is a partnership with someone you have the honor of a long oak. Why didn’t the sale or any major cooperation come before? Isn’t it just a reaction to Blue Crow Sports Group or Kaprain?
In general, we can say that any behavior we started has evoked something. There would be no more offers here without the previous ones. Important is the result that I am fully satisfied with. And why didn’t it come before? This will be a question for the new owner. For myself, I perceive this that Czech football has generally made a significant progress in recent years, and it is now more interesting for strong investors and entrepreneurs to be part of the ownership group in the Czech league.
You were at the beginning of the US trip. Why didn’t it work?
I still think that foreign know-how was a huge added value. I would like to see the Blue Crow Sports Group in some Czech club, where it will unzip it. That’s one thing. And the other – at that time he was the only candidate, which means we had no alternatives. I have always taken the opinion that if we have a candidate, let’s negotiate with him quite seriously and see where to go.
Will Aleš Šchele work in the club?
I can’t confirm anything.
A lot of sports sections, reinforcements and the like are solved. But we are also interested in the operation of the club and “unobtrusive” employees. Was the topic to improve the conditions?
Certainly. We felt that the last three years we had to pull the first and second league here. It was a madly difficult time. There is a difference to have a B in the second league and in MSFL, where unfortunately it fell. But now Europe will come again, which will be new and we are united with the owner that the individual sections will need to strengthen to tighten it. We know that not only in terms of sports, but also organizing it will be very difficult.
