Moldovan guest Vladislav Ursu contributed to the triumph in the first purely Czech finals, who won all four matches and lost the set in the last. Martin Šíp overcame in retaliation and in the already determined state of David Reitšpies.
Reitspies had previously taken care of the continuous settlement when he turned two swords to the Croatian rival Andrei Gacin in a five -hundred -year battle. However, Pavel Širček gained the decisive point for the home team, who “overwhelmed” in five sets of Tomáš Konečný.
“The basis for our success in the final was already the first match in Prague. There we showed excellent performance and Vladislav Ursu showed that he is a difference player. He was our main trump, but that does not mean that we were waiting for easy work.
From the whole competition he highlighted the semifinal duel with German Mülhausen, in which the first match was lost to Havlíčkův Brod 1: 3. “We did not have much chances for the procedure, but we were able to solve this situation, so I think we won the European Cup deservedly,” he said. So far the last Czech winner of the European Men Cup was Vítkovice in 1971.
