The 23rd Korean American Korean Sports Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Americas) was held at the Star Center Multisports Center in Texas Dallas Farmer’s Branch for three days from the 20th to 22nd to successfully end in hot enthusiasm and inspiration. With the slogan of ‘one passion, challenge, brilliant victory’, more than 4,300 people including 33 sports meetings, about 3,800 athletes, preparatory committee members and officials from all over North America, including the United States and Canada, participated.
In this competition, the Washington DC Sports Association ranked 5th overall and Maryland Sports Association was 11th overall, showing its competitiveness in the eastern region.

At the opening ceremony held on the 20th, Yoo Kwang -jin, chairman of the Mijuku Association, read the ‘Sports Charter’ and announced the opening of the tournament through the oath of the player’s visit to Korea and Kang Hyun -ah. Kim Sung -han, chairman of the organizing committee, emphasized the meaning of the game, saying, “I hope that the friendship and unity between Koreans will be stronger through sports.”
The venue, Dallas, took advantage of the home team, and played a performance in land, soccer, taekwondo, marathon, and golf, and won the overall championship with a total of 171 medals and a total score of 6,541, with 52 gold, 54 silver and 65 silver.
The second place was ranked by the Atlanta Sports Association. Atlanta showed excellent skills in many sports such as swimming, badminton, and volleyball, and won 128 medals and 5,322 points, with 41 gold, 45 silver and 42.


The Washington DC Sports Association (Chairman Kim Yu -jin) has 175 athletes to stand out in shooting, swimming, taekwondo, basketball, volleyball, etc., with 20 gold, 17 silver, 22, and 59 medals and 1,921 points.


Kim Duk -man said, “All of the teams were able to cooperate and unite to achieve good results.” “It was a meaningful time for the next generation of the Korean -American to instill the nation’s pride and healthy sports spirit, and to confirm the harmony and identity of the community.”
Maryland Sports Association (Chairman Oh Se -baek) participated in about 200 people, including 150 athletes and executives and cheering squads, with 4 gold, 15 silver, and 12 in 12, with a total of 31 medals and 984 points. Suh Hwa -hwa said, “We showed the power of harmony and unity by moving in unison, focusing on the leaders of each sport.” He added, “Health is a national power, and it was a place to confirm that the sports society could convey bright and healthy energy to the Korean community.”
He also mentioned the prominent young players in the west and emphasized the necessity of recruiting next -generation talent.
Meanwhile, there was also happening due to mistake in the score process. Initially, the Houston team, which won 71 gold, 18, and 33 in 33, and a total of 2219 points, and the Houston team, which was announced to be fourth overall, was introduced in the awards ceremony, and the confusion occurred, and the LA Sports Association, which won 15 gold, 14 silver and 8 medals and 2488 points in total, won the third place. After protesting, both sides were awarded to third place.
On the 22nd, the Americas held a closing ceremony with a comprehensive winning team and a MVP award for each event.
