LFP Media, the commercial company of the football league, will choose “within eight days” between 21 production from the group L’Equipe and Mediawan led by Pierre-Antoine Caston for the production of its future channel which will broadcast Ligue 1 next season, AFP learned from sources close to the negotiations.
The LFP must hold a college on Thursday during which Nicolas de Tavernost, the director general of LFP Media, at the helm of the construction of the body of the body since April, will present the two projects to its members, without however making a final decision on the retained company, these same sources said.
To produce this future channel, whose creation has been acted since the divorce in early May between the League and Dazn, its main audiovisual partner this season, LFP Media launched on June 2, a call for tenders for four lots: the production of magazines, that of before and after matches, the management of multiplex and finally the management of editorial personnel.
21 Production, belonging to the L’Equipe group, already produced multiplex matches for Amazon Prime when I am still held the rights of the Ligue 1. Mediawan, led by Pierre-Antoine Capton, a close to Vincent Labrune, the president of the LFP, and whose sport branch is chaired by Eric Hannezo, is an audiovisual group which owns around twenty companies around the world.
Canal + returned to dance
In addition to the production of this future channel, Nicolas de Tavernost and his teams continue to work on his distribution, a key point, since he must become, by way, a source of funding for French clubs, which should take them a few more days before any decision.
LFP Media continues to discuss with all market players and in particular the Canal+group.
In mid-May, the historic partner of French football, in cold with the LFP for several years, wrote to the commercial company of the body to offer a distribution offer, thus acting its renewed interest in the French championship.
The group led by Maxime Saada proposed two distinct plans to LFP Media, one where he would take care of the distribution of the Ligue 1 channel alone and co-diffuse with the Ligue the poster, the most prestigious, of the Sunday evening, the other for the more conventional distribution, like all the other market players, with the advantage of benefiting from a strike force in France without common measure.
