Havana’s High performance Athlete Training School Cerro Pelado buzzed with intense competition this Friday, as the Judo challenger tournament heated up, a crucial stepping stone towards the Júnior Pan-American Games in Asunción 2025. The tournament served as a vital proving ground, fostering fierce rivalry among the nation’s top judokas.
Female Force: Coronado Triumphs
In a captivating showdown,Yainet Coronado,showcasing extraordinary technique,outmaneuvered Yunisis Roque Febles,the 2024 Pan American Cup winner in the 48 kg division. This victory underscored Coronado’s readiness for the upcoming continental competition.
Apajón’s dominance in the +78 kg division was equally notable,silencing the promising deyanara Curbelo. The other victorious women included dalí Semanat (52 kg), Leanet Recio (57 kg), Yusmeli Sánchez (70 kg), and Liliaris González (78 kg).
Male Division: Emerging Stars and Established Powerhouses
