Inter’s Zanetti: Champions League and serie A, Two Fronts to Conquer
Inter Milan’s vice-president, Javier Zanetti, affirmed the club’s unwavering commitment to both the Serie A and Champions League competitions. The nerazzurri, currently fourth in Serie A, are locked in a tight race for the Scudetto, just two points behind league leaders Napoli.
A Tight race for the Scudetto
Inter’s impressive league form, marked by only one loss and a single conceded goal in the league phase, has them level on 19 points with Arsenal, though Arsenal’s superior goal difference secured third place. This strong performance underscores their determination to maintain their title defence.
A Respectful Approach to Feyenoord
Despite the intense Serie A battle, Inter will approach their Champions League clash against Feyenoord with respect. Zanetti emphasized the importance of acknowledging Feyenoord’s achievements while together maintaining Inter’s own ambitions.
“Feyenoord deserve respect for what they have managed to achieve,” Zanetti stated. “We will prepare for the matches as best as possible, and we have all the conditions to believe we can move forward. It largely depends on us.”
Champions League: A Legacy to Preserve
Inter, the sole remaining Serie A representative in the Champions league, carries a significant responsibility. Zanetti highlighted the prestige of the competition and inter’s past connection to it.
“we always have significant responsibilities; we are Inter, an importent team, and this competition is very prestigious. We will try to carry the Italian flag as high as possible,” Zanetti added.
Dual Focus: A Difficult but Necessary Balancing Act
The simultaneous pursuit of both the Serie A title and Champions League glory presents a formidable challenge. Inter’s ambition to win both competitions is unwavering.
“We don’t have the luxury of choosing. We must aim to go all the way in both,” Zanetti concluded. “Everyone wants to win the league, and we certainly know what it means to win it. But then there’s the Champions League, we are the last italian team to have won it, and we will always try to honor it and reach the final, just like two years ago. Competing in both is difficult, but our mindset is to go all the way. We can’t choose.”
A Glimpse into the Future
inter’s upcoming schedule includes a crucial Serie A match against Antonio Conte’s side, just days before the first leg of their Champions League encounter with Feyenoord. The Nerazzurri’s ability to navigate this demanding schedule will be a key factor in their success.
The pressure is on, but Inter’s resolve remains strong. Their pursuit of both trophies promises an exciting and unpredictable conclusion to the season.
