Welcome back, judo fans! Today, we’re diving deep into the thriving judo scene in the Occitanie region of France. We’re lucky enough to be joined by Coach Pierre Dupont, a seasoned veteran with decades of experience nurturing young talent on the tatami. Coach Dupont, welcome to the show!
Coach Dupont: It’s a pleasure to be here. I’m always eager to talk about the incredible judo athletes we have here in Occitanie.
Moderator: We’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about some of the rising stars emerging from the region. Maelys Barbat from Judo Club Gramatois seems to be making quite a name for herself. What makes her stand out?
Coach Dupont: Maelys is a true force of nature.She possesses a natural tenacity and an incredible ability to adapt to different opponents. she’s still young, but her dedication and work ethic are truly impressive.
Moderator: Absolutely. We’ve also got soha Chibary and Leona Boute, both demonstrating impressive skills from Judo Club Luzech Pradines and JC Cadurcien respectively. Is there a particular coaching ideology at work in occitanie that’s fostering this wave of young talent?
Coach Dupont: I wouldn’t say there’s one specific philosophy, but there’s definitely a strong emphasis on community and collaboration amongst the clubs here. We regularly have joint training sessions and share knowledge, which benefits everyone involved.
Moderator: That collaborative spirit is fantastic to hear. Now, let’s talk about the more experienced competitors. manon De Quattro’s fourth-place finish is a testament to her skill and dedication, wouldn’t you say?
Coach Dupont: Absolutely! Manon is a role model for the younger athletes. She’s shown incredible
perseverance and a commitment to continuous improvement. Achieving a top-four finish at that level is no mean feat.
Moderator: Indeed. It sounds like the future of judo in Occitanie is incredibly luminous.Do you see any particular challenges facing these athletes as they progress in their careers?
Coach dupont: Funding and access to top-level coaching are always ongoing challenges for athletes at all levels. But I have there’s no doubt whatsoever that with their talent and the support of the community, these young judo stars will shine on the international stage.
