Louis Saha: It’s definitely a tough situation for a young player like Wahi. Coming to a club like marseille, with its history and passionate fans, comes with immense pressure. He showed some promise initially, but football is about consistency. You need to deliver week in and week out, especially for a club like OM.
Moderator: Steve Savidan, during a recent appearance on “Rothen Ignites,” pointed out Wahi’s lack of impact when he’s not scoring. He basically said that Wahi disappears when he’s not finding the back of the net. Do you agree with that assessment?
Louis Saha: There’s some truth to that.As a striker,your primary job is to score goals. But the best forwards also contribute in othre ways – holding up the ball, creating chances, pressing high – they make themselves a nuisance for the opposition even when they aren’t directly involved in goals. It seems like Wahi needs to find those other dimensions to his game.
Moderator: De Zerbi seems to favor Neal Maupay at the moment. Do you think Wahi can regain his manager’s trust and secure a starting spot?
Louis Saha: Absolutely. Wahi is a talented player, and De Zerbi is a good coach who seems patient. The key for Wahi is to work hard, improve on those areas we discussed, and show the manager he’s hungry for more. Sometiems young players need a little time to adapt to a new environment, a new league, and new teammates. He shouldn’t lose confidence.
Moderator: We’ve seen Wahi compared to Marseille legends like Jean-Pierre Papin and Didier Drogba. Do you think those comparisons are fair, or do they put undue pressure on a young striker?
Louis Saha: It’s natural for fans and media to draw comparisons, but those are massive shoes to fill! Papin and Drogba were remarkable, legendary players. Wahi needs to focus on building his own legacy, carve his own path. Comparisons aside, he’s a talented player with great potential, and I wouldn’t write him off just yet.
