Dick Vermeil: Thanks for having me. It’s always a pleasure to talk football.
That was a statement game by the Packers.Nine different players rushing the ball – talk about establishing dominance on the ground. What were your thoughts on their offensive strategy?
Dick Vermeil: simply put, the packers went old school and it worked beautifully. Keeping the ball on the ground, controlling the clock, and wearing down that Saints defense was masterful.
You mentioned controlling the clock. We saw Jordan Love with a more conservative approach, focusing on managing the game. Do you think this is the Love we can expect to see going forward,especially in the playoffs?
Dick Vermeil: I wouldn’t say conservative,just smart.Love made the plays he needed to make, didn’t force anything, and let that running game do the heavy lifting. In the playoffs, it’s all about controlling the tempo and minimizing mistakes. That’s exactly what Love did.
On the othre side of the ball, the Saints looked lost offensively. Missing Alvin Kamara certainly didn’t help,but what stood out to you as their biggest issue?
Dick Vermeil: The lack of offensive rhythm was worrying. Rattler faced constant pressure, and the Packers’ defense seemed to know what play was coming before the snap. without Kamara,the Saints lacked a true game-changer,and it showed.
Let’s talk about the Packers’ defense. What impressed you most about their performance?
Dick vermeil: Their intensity was infectious. They were flying to the ball, tackling hard, and disrupting everything the Saints tried to do. When a defense plays with that kind of passion, it’s incredibly arduous to move the ball.
Now, looking ahead to the playoffs, how far can the Packers realistically go?
Dick Vermeil: The Packers are a dangerous team. They’ve got a solid running game, a quarterback who’s finding his groove, and a defense that can shut down anyone. If they stay healthy, they’re a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
